South Holland, the onion set capital of the world

Immigrants from the Dutch province of South Holland settled this bottomland along the Little Calumet in 1846 and named it after the place they had left. The black muck soil turned out to suit onions, and the growers specialised until the village was billing itself as the onion set capital of the world by the 1940s. Onion sets are the small bulbs gardeners plant instead of sowing seed.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
