Ruff's Mill and the Concord Covered Bridge
1848
Smyrna, Georgia
Tyler Lahti · CC BY-SA 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Martin Ruff won this land in the 1832 lottery that distributed Cherokee territory and built a water powered grist mill on Nickajack Creek in the 1840s. Union troops fought their way past the mill on 4 July 1864 and burned the bridge and much of the settlement. The bridge was rebuilt and still carries traffic, the only covered bridge you can drive in Cobb County.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
