Pig's Eye becomes Saint Paul
1841
Saint Paul, Minnesota
The landing was named for Pierre Parrant, a one-eyed bootlegger who sold whiskey to soldiers evicted from Fort Snelling. A French priest built a log chapel to Saint Paul in 1841 and the settlers took the new name gratefully. Eight years later it was the territorial capital.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
