Guy J. Vinton designed this Late Gothic Revival church at Woodward and Pingree in 1909 for North Baptist Church, and in 1912 the First Baptist Church of Detroit merged into the building. By the 1950s the membership had moved away from the neighbourhood and the congregation sold up in 1957. The buyer was Peoples Community Church, a Black congregation formed in 1954 in an amicable separation from Ebenezer AME, and it has held the building ever since. It went on the National Register in 1982.
