Pendergast's Kansas City
1925
Downtown Kansas City, Missouri
Tom Pendergast ran the city through patronage, concrete contracts and open disregard for Prohibition, the town never really went dry, which is why the music did so well. He went to prison for tax evasion in 1939. A county judge he had backed named Harry Truman went the other way.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
