Patterson Houses, the first postwar project in the Bronx
1950
Mott Haven, the Bronx
Fifteen buildings holding 1,790 apartments went up on seventeen acres of Mott Haven, and the first families moved in during March 1950 with veterans given priority. It was the first low rent development the city finished in the borough after the Second World War. The basketball player Nate Archibald and the boxer Iran Barkley grew up in it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
