Paramount is created by merging Hynes and Clearwater
1948
Paramount, California
Two farm towns, Hynes and Clearwater, were fused in 1948 when the Postmaster General ordered their post offices combined. Frank Zamboni, then running the local Kiwanis club, proposed naming the result after Paramount Boulevard, the street that had divided the two. Hay dealers here met each working day under a camphor tree to set prices that were quoted far beyond California, and the tree is now a state landmark. Zamboni had opened his Iceland rink nearby in 1939, and his ice resurfacing machine was built to keep it running.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
