Pann's, the Googie coffee shop that survived the airport belt
1958
Westchester, Los Angeles, California
George and Rena Poulos opened Pann's on La Tijera Boulevard in 1958, in a building and neon sign drawn by Eldon Davis and Helen Liu Fong of Armet & Davis, the firm behind much of Los Angeles' space-age coffee shop look. Most of those diners have since been torn down. Pann's is still family run, still serving breakfast and lunch under the same slanted roof, and turns up in films whenever a director wants 1950s Los Angeles without building a set.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
