Nut Island, the sewage plant that named a management failure
2001

Nut Island was an island in Boston Harbor until a causeway tied it to the end of Houghs Neck. The one building on it screens grit and solids out of the sewage from the south half of the system and pumps the rest almost five miles under the harbour to Deer Island. A Harvard Business Review case about the crew that ran the old plant gave the phrase Nut Island effect to the rest of the world.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
