Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where Newark's inventors and governors lie
1844
Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Broadway, Newark, New Jersey
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The cemetery was incorporated in 1844 in the rural style then spreading through American cities, forty landscaped acres above the Passaic laid out by Horace Baldwin, with some graves moved here from older burying grounds. Seth Boyden, who worked out patent leather and malleable iron in Newark, is buried here, along with John Dryden, who founded Prudential, and Supreme Court Justice Joseph Bradley. Three governors of New Jersey and the actor Ray Liotta are in the same ground.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
