The fourteenth of the Franciscan missions, planted at the foot of the hills to catch the trade routes east. Its Ohlone congregation was among the largest in the chain, and the mission ran an orchard, a tannery and an olive press on their labour. The 1868 earthquake took the church down. What stands is a 1985 reconstruction beside the original adobe wing.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
