Miller Town Hall, the office of a town Gary swallowed in 1918
1911
Gary, Indiana
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Miller incorporated as its own town in 1907 and put up this two storey brick hall to run itself from. Gary annexed Miller in 1918, and the building spent most of the rest of the century as a fire station before dropping to storage. It went on the National Register in 1978, and neighbourhood volunteers still keep up the grounds.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
