Martinelli's presses its first apples
1868
Watsonville, California
A Swiss immigrant started making cider in the Pajaro Valley and the family has been at it in the same town ever since, in the same round-shouldered bottle with a gold foil neck. Prohibition nearly finished them. They survived it by selling the unfermented version, which is what the company is now known for entirely.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
