Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital reopens in Willowbrook
Willowbrook, California
![]()
This stands on the site of the old Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, the hospital South Los Angeles won after the 1965 Watts uprising and then lost when federal inspectors failed it over patient safety. The replacement opened on 7 July 2015 with 131 beds in a new building costing about 208 million dollars, aimed at a population that is heavily uninsured and sits outside the Los Angeles city limits.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
