Marietta's city high school opened in 1892 and has moved five times, through buildings on Kennesaw Avenue, Waterman Street, Lemon Street and Haynes Street, then Winn Street from 1924. Under segregation it was the white school and Lemon Street High was the Black one. The city integrated in 1967 by closing Lemon Street and sending its students to Marietta High. The school moved to this 60-acre campus on Whitlock Avenue in 2001, and it is still the only high school inside the city limits.
