Austin Corbin built the Manhattan Beach Hotel in 1877 and the grander Oriental in 1880, making this the most expensive of the three resorts on the island. Corbin was secretary of the American Society for the Suppression of Jews and refused Jewish guests at both hotels. Corbin Place, which carried his name, was later rededicated to Margaret Corbin of the Revolutionary War.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
