Logans Ferry Powder Works made the sparkle in car paint
1918
Plum, Pennsylvania
This plant off Barking Road started making explosive bronze and aluminium powder in 1918. The same flake powder went into fireworks and dynamite, into roof coatings, into rocket fuel and into the metallic pigment that gives automotive paint its glitter, and Alcoa ran it as its last factory in the Alle-Kiski valley. Alcoa sold the pigment business and closed the works in May 1986. The site went on the National Register in 1998 and was being dismantled by 2015.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
