The high school opened on this site in 1919, built for two thousand students and overflowing into three junior highs within seven years. In the mid 1950s the board of education spent 1.2 million dollars on a two thousand seat civic auditorium attached to the school, put up deliberately for public use as well as assemblies. The Early Settler figure on its facade became the district's emblem.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
