A village of about four thousand talked the Olympic committee into the third Winter Games, built a bobsled run on a mountainside and an indoor rink, and held them in the depth of the Depression with a thaw so bad snow had to be trucked from Canada. It is one of only three places to have hosted the Winter Olympics twice.
