The 1904 World's Fair and Olympics
1904
Forest Park, St. Louis
Twenty million people came to 1,200 acres of temporary palaces, and the Olympics were folded in as a sideshow. The marathon was won by a man who had been driven eleven miles in a car. The runner-up ran on strychnine and brandy. The fair also had human beings displayed in villages, which was normal for such fairs and appalling then too.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
