La Casina, a neon ziggurat that became a clothing factory

A plain 1907 building on 160th Street was rebuilt around 1936 as a Streamline Moderne nightclub, its front stepped back like a ziggurat with a vertical neon sign running down the middle. The nightclub era was short. From the 1940s until 1987 the same room held a clothing factory, and the sign stayed up through all of it. The city landmarked the building in 1996.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
