K-Town, where every street starts with K because of a 1913 counting scheme

A 1913 plan to rationalise Chicago street names gave each mile west of the Indiana state line its own letter. K is the eleventh letter and drew the eleventh mile, which is why Karlov, Kedvale, Keeler, Kildare, Kolin, Kolmar, Komensky, Kostner and a dozen more run side by side here. Everything further east was already built and named, so this mile is as far east as the scheme ever got. The greystones and two flats filling it went up in the first three decades of the century.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
