Homestead builds a NASCAR speedway
1995
Homestead, Florida
The city of Homestead owns this 1.5 mile oval, which opened in 1995 as the Homestead Motorsports Complex, three years after Hurricane Andrew flattened the town, and took its present name in 1998. NASCAR operates it, and for years the sport ended its season here. It seats about 43,000 and also runs a road course laid out through the infield.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
