Talladega, the fastest oval in NASCAR
1969
Talladega, Alabama
Racing One · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
The longest and fastest oval in NASCAR, banked at 33 degrees, where a car once ran over 216mph before restrictor plates were required. Drivers boycotted the first race as unsafe, and the track has a persistent legend of a curse from a Native burial ground. Talladega Nights is set and shot on this same tri-oval, restrictor plates and all.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
