In 1983 the principal of Hazelwood East pulled two pages from Spectrum, the paper written by the school's journalism class, over articles about teen pregnancy and divorce. Three student editors sued. The Supreme Court sided with the school in 1988, holding that administrators may control school sponsored student speech that is not a public forum, and that ruling still governs high school newspapers nationwide.
