Harriet Tubman's country
1849
Dorchester County, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Tubman escaped from this marshy Eastern Shore country and came back some thirteen times to lead about seventy people out, never losing one. She later guided a Union raid on the Combahee River that freed more than 700 people in a night, the first woman to lead an American military operation.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
