Grove Church Cemetery, the Palisades slope Hudson County buries people on
1847

Grove Church has buried people on this hillside since 1847, on about eight acres that form one link in a chain of cemeteries running down the western slope of the Palisades. Civil War veterans lie here, among them Major William Hexamer, who commanded a New Jersey artillery battery. The ground has drawn vandalism and misuse since the nineteenth century, and part of it was being lived in by homeless people as recently as 2007.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
