Forney High School split in two when the metroplex reached Kaufman County
2007
Forney, Texas
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Forney spent a century as a cotton town at the end of the Texas and Pacific line, with eight gins running by 1910 and not much reason for anyone in Dallas to drive out. Growth in the early 2000s was fast enough that voters approved a bond in May 2007 to build a second high school, and US Highway 80 now divides the two attendance zones. The district also covers Talty and the slice of Mesquite that falls on the Kaufman County side of the line.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
