Ford runs the first vertically integrated assembly line in Cambridge
1913
Cambridge, Massachusetts
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Ford opened this riverfront plant in 1913 and ran what is credited as the first vertically integrated assembly line anywhere, with raw material entering one end and finished cars leaving the other. Ford replaced it in 1926 with a larger plant up the river in Somerville. Polaroid used the building afterward and MIT owns it today.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
