Farnsworth Park, a county nursery turned public park
1934
Altadena, California
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Los Angeles County bought this land in 1921 to grow nursery stock. When the county built new nurseries in the 1930s, General Charles Farnsworth and William Davies campaigned to keep the tract public instead, and Farnsworth laid out the grading and planting himself. Public Works Administration money paid for the stone community building, finished in 1934.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
