Elmwood, where the gerrymander got its name

The Georgian house went up around 1767 for Thomas Oliver, the royal lieutenant governor, who lost it when the Revolution arrived. Elbridge Gerry lived here afterwards, and the state senate map he signed as governor in 1812 was so contorted that a newspaper drew one district as a salamander and called it a gerrymander. James Russell Lowell was born in the house and died in it, and Harvard's president lives there now.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
