Governor Hutchinson's ha-ha, the last piece of a royal estate
1771
Milton, Massachusetts

A ha-ha is a sunken wall that keeps livestock off a lawn without breaking the view, and this one on Randolph Avenue was probably built around 1771. It is the only thing left of the Milton estate of Thomas Hutchinson, the last civilian royal governor of Massachusetts, who fled to England in 1774. Very few early ha-has survive anywhere in North America.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
