Edgewater Village Hall, for a village that lasted nine years
1889
Stapleton, Staten Island
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Stapleton and its neighbours incorporated as the village of Edgewater and built themselves a Romanesque Revival hall with a square tower in 1889. Nine years later the consolidation of New York City dissolved the village outright. The building survived as municipal offices and still sits in the middle of Tappen Park.
