CHS Field, built on poisoned ground for a team that once signed a woman pitcher
Saint Paul, Minnesota

The Lowertown ballpark opened in 2015 on a contaminated former industrial site that had to be cleaned before anything could be built. It is home to the St. Paul Saints, who spent their independent league years selling the game as a stunt, with a pig delivering the baseballs and Bill Murray in the ownership group. The Saints signed Ila Borders in 1997, the first woman to pitch in a men's professional league in decades. The club became the Minnesota Twins Triple A affiliate in 2021.
