A Dallas paper once wrote that Fort Worth was sleepy enough for a panther to nap in the middle of downtown, and the baseball club took the insult for its name. The Panthers played at LaGrave Field from 1926, won Texas League titles in 1930, 1937 and 1939, and had lights for night games by 1931. The original park was demolished in 1967. A replacement opened on the site in 2002 and has since closed.
