Cherry trees planted at the Tidal Basin

A first shipment from Japan in 1910 arrived diseased and was burned on the Mall. The replacement 3,020 trees were planted in 1912. Four were quietly cut down in 1941 and the rest renamed Oriental cherries for the war.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
