A lens lantern went up on a post at this point on 12 December 1887 to mark the east side of the entrance to Commencement Bay. Oscar Brown took over as the first resident keeper in 1903 and stayed for decades, and in 1933 he dedicated the thirty four foot concrete art deco tower that replaced the original wooden one, with a marching band and a ribbon cutting. The keeper's cottage is now a park and a rental.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
