The Boulder Theater, an opera house rebuilt in art deco
1936
14th Street, Boulder, Colorado
The building opened in 1906 as the Curran Opera House and took plays, ballet, silent films and touring orchestras. Franklin Roosevelt spoke from its stage in October 1920 while running for vice president. A 1936 remodel wrapped it in a tiled art deco front and painted the interior with desert murals that are still among the best deco work in Colorado, and the room now runs as a music venue.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
