Brick Towers comes down over the mayor's objection
1970
Newark, New Jersey
Brick Towers opened in 1970 with 324 units of affordable housing and became a case study in what bad management does to a building that is structurally sound. Cory Booker moved in as a young councilman and was still living there once he was mayor. He argued against demolition and lost. The towers came down in 2008 and the site was redeveloped.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
