Bixby Creek Bridge
1932
Big Sur, California
Diliff · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
The concrete arch that stands for the whole coast highway, thrown 260 feet over a creek mouth in 1932 by crews working from a wooden trestle. It opened Big Sur to the world, which Big Sur has had mixed feelings about ever since.
