Arthur Kill Correctional Facility, now a film set
1976
Charleston, Staten Island, New York
A medium security state prison for 931 men, open from 1976 until Albany closed it in 2011. It was the only state prison in New York City for most of its life. The buildings were sold and now earn their keep as a studio backlot, rented out whenever a production needs prison corridors, while part of the grounds holds buried truck trailers and contaminated soil.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
