Annie Malone and Poro College

Annie Turnbo Malone built a hair care company into one of the first great Black American fortunes and put its headquarters, factory, school, auditorium and dormitory in one building on Pine Street. Poro trained and employed thousands of women as agents, Madam C.J. Walker among them early on. Malone gave most of it away, including to the orphanage that still carries her name, and lost the rest to a divorce settlement and back taxes.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
