Amon Carter's will builds a free museum in a Philip Johnson shell
1961
Cultural District, Fort Worth, Texas
Amon G. Carter ran the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and collected Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. His thirty-two page will paid for a museum to hold the pictures and required that it stay free to the public. Philip Johnson designed the building, which opened in 1961. Carter and Johnson never met.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
