Remington paints the West from Ogdensburg

The artist whose cowboys and cavalry are most of what Americans picture when they picture the West was from the St. Lawrence valley, went out as a young man, failed at sheep ranching, and made his career selling the frontier back east as it was closing. The largest collection of his work is in his home town, a long way from any of it.
