American Airlines parks a restored DC-3 in a museum hangar

The C.R. Smith Museum opened on July 3, 1993 on the airline's Flight Academy campus at the south end of DFW Airport. It is named for the executive who ran American for decades and who pushed Douglas into building the DC-3. The centrepiece is the Flagship Knoxville, a DC-3 bought by a group of retired American pilots and restored by company crews, kept in its own hangar.
