Adventure Landing kept the Jacksonville Beach midway alive
1995
Jacksonville Beach, Florida
Jacksonville Beach ran a Coney Island style boardwalk from 1915, with dance halls, shooting galleries and a wooden coaster that operated from 1928 to 1949. Hurricane Dora took most of what was left of it in 1964. Adventure Landing opened on Beach Boulevard in 1995 with go karts, mini golf and the Shipwreck Island water park, and became the first of a chain that reached four states. It closed after three decades and the site was cleared for apartments.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
