A stadium built across the fault
1923
Memorial Stadium, Berkeley, California
California Memorial Stadium sits directly astride the Hayward Fault, which runs under the north tunnel and out through the south end. The two halves of the bowl have crept apart by more than a foot since it opened. A retrofit in 2012 cut the structure into blocks that are meant to slide past each other rather than tear.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
