A Metrolink train hits an SUV left on the tracks in Glendale

At 6.03 on the morning of 26 January 2005 a Metrolink commuter train struck a sport utility vehicle parked across the rails in an industrial stretch of Glendale. Eleven people died and 177 were injured. The driver, who had parked the vehicle intending to take his own life and then changed his mind but could not move it, survived and was later convicted of eleven counts of murder.
