Surveyed so close to the Texas line that residents were never entirely sure which state they slept in, it changed with each survey. Route 66 kept it alive. I-40 ended it. A territorial one-room jail and a bar with 'no place like Texola' painted on it remain.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
