The church where Benjamin pounds on the glass screaming 'Elaine!' and breaks up the wedding, then bars the door with a crucifix and runs, is a real Methodist church east of Los Angeles. The final bus shot, the two of them elated and then slowly not, was improvised in the seat. The church is unchanged, and still holds weddings less dramatic than the one it is famous for.
